Hi! My name is Geoff Herbert, aka DJ DeafGeoff. I’m a wedding DJ in Syracuse and Upstate New York with a passion for fun music.
I have more than 20 years of experience DJing at hundreds of events, including weddings, private parties, bars, clubs, corporate events, sports games, school dances and more. I previously worked in radio for 10 years, including six years as “DeafGeoff,” the morning show producer for Hot 107.9 (WWHT-FM) in Syracuse.

As the nickname DeafGeoff suggests, I am mostly deaf. I was born with a profound binaural hearing loss; I hear about 10 percent as well as the average person without hearing aids. But with hearing aids, speech therapy, lipreading, and listening skills, I communicate verbally so well that people often forget I’m hard-of-hearing (and think I’m “Def Jeff” or “Def Geoff,” not DeafGeoff.) My disability has never limited my ability to mix music, create playlists, and select the best songs for any occasion.
Besides DJing, I’m a New York Emmy Award-nominated reporter and the SEO Lead for syracuse.com and The Post-Standard newspaper in Syracuse. I love writing about local events, music, movies and the people that make Central New York great.
I’m also a motivational speaker for schools, special needs groups and corporate events; visit deafgeoff.com for more info.
